MINCHIN

Minchin is a changed-voice ensemble for Tenors, Basses and changing voices aged 10-18. Rehearsals focus on building independence and leadership skills as a choral singer, with students learning to hold their own part without relying on others. Singers also learn how to use their voices in a healthy and efficient way, to perform music in a variety of styles, including choral, contemporary, barbershop, and opera.

The group rehearses between 1:00 and 4:00 on Saturday afternoons, with a major WAYV concert at the end of each semester. Singers also sometimes have the opportunity to perform one-off gigs with other WA arts companies, with previous collaborators including the Perth Symphony Orchestra, WA Opera and Barbershop Harmony Australia.

This ensemble is proudly named after the incomparable Tim Minchin, one of Australia’s finest composer/song writer, actor, comedian, pianist, and director.

Auditions are currently open for Season 1, commencing 8th of Feb 2025
